भारत में, महिलाओं को सशक्त बनाने के लिये सबसे पहले समाज में उनके अधिकारों और मूल्यों को मारने वाले उन सभी राक्षसी सोच को मारना जरुरी है जैसे दहेज प्रथा, अशिक्षा, यौन हिंसा, असमानता, भ्रूण हत्या, महिलाओं के प्रति घरेलू हिंसा, बलात्कार, वैश्यावृति, मानव तस्करी और ऐसे ही दूसरे विषय।

महिलाओं की समस्याओं का उचित समाधान करने के लिये महिला आरक्षण बिल-108वाँ संविधान संशोधन का पास होना बहुत जरुरी है ये संसद में महिलाओं की 33% हिस्सेदारी को सुनिश्चित करता है। दूसरे क्षेत्रों में भी महिलाओं को सक्रिय रुप से भागीदार बनाने के लिये कुछ प्रतिशत सीटों को आरक्षित किया गया है।
सरकार को महिलाओं के वास्तविक विकास के लिये पिछड़े ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों में जाना होगा और वहाँ की महिलाओं को सरकार की तरफ से मिलने वाली सुविधाओं और उनके अधिकारों से अवगत कराना होगा जिससे उनका भविष्य बेहतर हो सके। महिला सशक्तिकरण के सपने को सच करने के लिये लड़िकयों के महत्व और उनकी शिक्षा को प्रचारित करने की जरुरत है।
